NEXT: South African tasting

This Friday we’re pouring two new wines from South Africa. Lismore Estate Vineyards Barrel Fermented Sauvignon Blanc 2014 (£19.25) is from the Western Cape. Typical ripe Sauvignon notes against a tantalising backdrop of a little caramel and ripe stone fruit. The wine has been barrel fermented and aged for 11 months in older 300 litre barrels. Occasional bâtonage and extended lees contact give texture.
Swartland Winery Limited Release Mourvèdre 2015 (£11.55) is from, er, Swartland. Mocha and vanilla on the nose which follow through to the palate. Black spicy fruit. Surprisingly easy to drink given the overall intensity of the wine.
It’s a free and very informal tasting. Turn up anytime between 5pm and 7.30pm to try the wines. If you’d like to buy what you try, there’s 10% off on the night.
